While in isolation at home, and with no travel plans in sight for the foreseeable future, this is as close to travel as I can get now 😃. It was still a lot of fun to visit Europe and look around virtually.
Last Saturday’s Sketchcrawl continued till late afternoon, at a pub then a rooftop bar and ending with dinner. The Forum Theatre is a beautiful building on the corner of Flinders and Russell Streets. This complex building has now become one of my favourite buildings to sketch. Another favourite – I love sketching Flinders Street Station. … Continue reading WW Sketchcrawl 42 (Part 2)
Princess Theatre in Melbourne dates back to mid-1800s. It was a 40 deg day and I had just completed a drawing of the Winsor Hotel, sitting on the steps of Parliament Building across the road. Exhausted and hungry, I only managed a quick sketch of the roofs. Must go back and draw this beautiful building … Continue reading Princess Theatre, Melbourne
The Melbourne Urban Sketchers met on Saturday, January 25 which was a WW Sketchcrawl day – exciting to be sketching on the same day as other sketchers around the world. Over 20 people turned up to sketch together. We went to Collins Street in the Melbourne CBD. I managed a sketch of Scots Church, located … Continue reading WW Sketchcrawl 42 (Part 1)
Our recent sketch crawl was in Swan Street in Richmond. Dimneys (Dimelow & Gaylard - originally a drapery store) is closed and the building on Swan Street is being rebuilt. Google tells me that "Coles supermarket will soon fill the ground floor, and 15 New York-style apartments to feature upstairs... Across the road, a restaurant … Continue reading Dimneys on Swan Street
It is such a pleasure to be able to connect and sketch with the Vancouver UrbanSketchers. We had such a great time sketching a few days ago. Being a very cold day, we stays indoors but we could see parts of the view of downtown and the mountains. I chose to capture some of the … Continue reading Drawing with Vancouver USKers
These were completed during the Melbourne USK Sketchcrawl in Hawthorn on Saturday. It was a lovely sunny day – just perfect to be drawing outdoors. The Hawthorn Town Hall is such a beautiful building (I think I might be addicted to drawing town halls). After lunch we headed down Glenferrie Road for more sketching. It … Continue reading USK Melbourne Sketchcrawl, November 2013
Love the old buildings in Melbourne. Flinders Street Station is one of the major train stations in the city. It is also a popular meeting place. A popular spot is the stairs under it’s huge clock – not shown here but I will definitely draw it at another time.
What an enormously exciting day it was, to be drawing with others around the world yesterday (19 Oct 2013). Urban sketchers in Melbourne met up in Black Cat Cafe on Brunswick Street to start our drawing day at 10 am. I went across the street to draw the cafe – located at the corner … Continue reading World Wide Sketchcrawl Day
I have passed Luna Park in Melbourne many times but I have never drawn it until yesterday. Yesterday, I drew 3 versions. It was a lovely spring day – just a perfect day to be outdoors. I arrived slightly before 11 am, and many people were waiting outside. I found the perfect spot to sketch … Continue reading Luna Park Sketches
