Gouache is such a great medium. When I want to take a break from using oil, I turn to gouache which is relatively “cleaner”, since it is water-based (read on, let me clarify :)). I don’t worry about putting on an apron to protect my clothes as I do with oil paint, and getting it all over my house, furniture and carpet (painting can be messy :)). In addition to that, when painting with oil paint, I make sure that the space I paint in is well ventilated, but I am more relaxed when using gouache.
I have fun with all types of materials and don’t really stick to one. What’s your favourite medium?
