Izu Peninsula

Evelyn Yee

Greetings from Japan! I have been here for a month, firstly walked around Izu Peninsula the first week, then a week in Nikko and Tokyo each. Now I am almost completing a week in Fukuoka.

It’s been wonderful – I love this country! Izu was extremely interesting – I walked along the coast and in the forest. Up and down – each day was different from the last and seafood was amazing! And at the end of each day, I soaked my tired feet and body in an onsen (hot spring). Lovely! šŸ˜ƒ

There wasn’t much time or opportunity to sketch but I managed a few. Here is one sketch from my journal.

Japan coast - watercolour by Evelyn Yee
Dougashima coast, Japan

The Dougashima coastline is dramatic and rocky with cliffs and caves. There were so many scenes to capture (and I have taken a lot of photos for later).

There are a few more from the walk, then sketches in Nikko, Tokyo and Fukuoka which I will post soon.
