Sketches on the plane

I have been slack! No other excuse for not posting, other than I have been busy doing other things like travelling and loads of sketching and painting.

I have recently been to Central Australia and visited the amazing Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon and McDonnell Ranges. I went to Malaysia and Vietnam too. While I was travelling, I kept a sketch journal – I will share the sketches soon.

Today’s post will be about sketches on the plane, mostly to pass the flight time. And what better way to pass the time!

All 3 pieces below were painted on my IPad using Procreate App. I used a couple of reference photos from an inflight magazine for the 2 portraits. It was fun to work out the colours I would use for each. I had my ear plugs in, and was having a great time but ended up chatting with my neighbour who couldn’t contain her curiosity. She wanted to know how I got into art, how long I have been painting, etc.Digital portrait by Evelyn Yee

The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi was 4 hours, plenty of time for an inflight sketch. The piece below probably took me about an hour to complete.

Hope you are all doing well. More sketches to follow in subsequent posts.
