Flowers and gardens

Botanic Gardens watercolour by Evelyn Yee

I went to the Melbourne Botanic Gardens the other day. I wanted to make the most of the remaining warm weather, and it was a gorgeous sunny day – perfect for sketching outdoors.

The painting above was completed on location. What attracted me most was the autumn colours of the trees. The pen sketch on the top was of some dahlias.

Sometimes I don’t get to go out to the gardens so I rely of photos for inspiration. In some instances, I come across beautiful scenes in photos that make me want to paint. These two – above and below – are scenes in New Zealand.

I love painting plants. It is addictive! Till next post, take care!
